The Difference between Whisky, Whiskey and Bourbon

Did you know there is a difference between whisky and whiskey? Also a difference for bourbon? For some time I thought it was a misspelling perhaps. Yes I know, very silly to think such a thing was just down to misspelling a word. Etymology is such an intriguing thing. Anyway the difference is where the whiskey is made.the Scottish Whisky (malt) and for American Whiskey (corn or rye).

What about bourbon then? Well bourbon is a type of american Whiskey with specific conditions and ingredient make up. It also must be produced in the United States.

Is one better than the other? That is a matter of perspective to be honest. I have some of my favorites Irish Whisky, American whiskeys, and bourbons. Stay tuned to the next couple of post and we will go into detail as to which ones those are. Also check out the All the whisky I like podcast.
